C3ER AT A GLANCE

Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, was established in 2011. C3ER’s Vision is to craft sustainable & adaptive solutions for society, and its targets are to be established as a cutting-edge research and academic institute in Bangladesh working in the field of climate physical science and natural resources management. C3ER WORKING DOMAIN

At present, Bangladesh is facing severe environmental degradation, which is driven by high population growth rates, unplanned development and inappropriate technology use. Human activities are largely responsible for water quality deterioration, soil erosion, air pollution, deforestation etc. These impacts are leading to extreme biodiversity degradation and ecosystem disruption. In addition, impacts of anthropocentric activities are triggering greater climate variability, as well as negatively impacting the existing natural capacity to deal with environmental disaster events. C3ER aims to address these issues head on in order to help the country prepare and deal with climate and environmental issues. Following chart describes the working domain of C3ER.
