The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) at BRAC University actively participates in COP29, held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The C3ER team, consisting of distinguished professionals such as Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus and Advisor, and Dr. Nandan Mukherjee, an expert in adaptation and resilience, will contribute their expertise during November 11-22, 2024. The team includes climate and environmental specialists like Sharmin Nahar Nipa, Roufa Khanum, Istiak Ibne Rouf, and Sadia Jahan Rothi, each bringing valuable insights into climate research and advocacy.
C3ER’s participation includes a series of impactful side events. Key highlights are discussions on climate justice, human mobility amid climate loss, and the interconnectedness of food systems and climate crises. Dr. Nishat will moderate the session on increasing climatic loss and human mobility. At the same time, Sharmin Nahar Nipa will keynote an event addressing mental health issues among the coastal populations of Bangladesh. Dr. Mukherjee will also lead discussions spotlighting climate change action in universities and enhancing coastal resilience with nature-based solutions.
