Fostering Bangladesh’s Climate Resilience: Masterclass on Climate Resilient Infrastructure PPPs in Bangladesh

In the face of global climate challenges, Bangladesh has emerged as a global leader in combating climate change, marching towards becoming a climate-resilient country. The masterclass on building climate-resilient infrastructure reflects the nation’s resilience, targeting the empowerment of government entities, departments, and public-private partnership (PPP) authorities.

The masterclass on ‘’Climate-Resilient Infrastructure’’ unfolded as an extraordinary event from January 29th to February 1st, 2024, at BRAC CDM, Rajendrapur. The masterclass was planned by Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) in support of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and PPP Authority. C3ER, BRAC University and Grant Thornton Consulting Bangladesh Limited (GTCBL) organized the masterclass in partnership with MoEFCC and PPP Authority. High-ranking officials from diverse ministries and government organizations, and officials from private sector participated in the masterclass. Dr. Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Authority, graced the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was chaired by Professor Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus and Advisor, Center for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) BRAC University. The training program culminated in a certificate awarding session on 1st February.

Generously funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), this program comprised three dynamic modules. Its objective was to equip the participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to seamlessly integrate climate adaptation and resilience into infrastructure projects.

This masterclass promised to fortify project implementation and pave the way for a climate-resilient future. Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA), steering investments in climate-resilient infrastructure projects, aimed to guide Bangladesh towards a brighter, more resilient future, serving as an inspiring global example. The knowledge shared during this event showcased human ingenuity, inspiring us all to unite and strive for a more resilient and sustainable future under the guidance of the GCA.
