Charting a Sustainable Path: Expert Consultation Paves the Way for COP28 in Dhaka

C3ER organized the event in collaboration with 14 consortium partners which includes National and International Organizations such as UNDP Bangladesh, Action Aid Bangladesh, ECO NETWORK, Youth Net for Climate Justice, Change Initiative, Center for Disability in Development (CDD), Aranyak Foundation, Nature Conservation Management, Nature and Life Foundation (NACOM), Local Environment Development and Agricultural Research Society (LEDARS), Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS), An Organization for Socio-Economic Development (AOSED), Community Development Centre (CODEC) and International Center for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD). This event marks a significant step toward charting a sustainable path and steering the discourse towards actionable solutions in the fight against climate change.
C3ER, in collaboration with the Consortium Partners, organized a pivotal event titled “The Road to Dubai: Expert Consultation on Thematic Programs of COP28.” on November 15, 2023, at the Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel, Dhaka. The event aimed to deliberate a discussion on crucial thematic issues focusing on different themes, laying the groundwork for the upcoming COP28. The event had a Technical Session where other thematic areas related to COP28 were discussed, such as Nature and land use, Loss and Damage, Gender Equality, Health, Energy Transition, Capacity Building, Water Resources, Youth and Children, Indigenous Communities, Accountability, Urbanization, etc. Experts from various organizations and universities presented in the thematic area.The event’s inaugural started with a Welcome Address by Mr. Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation (PoJF). Dr SM Manjurul Hannan Khan, Executive Director of NACOM, delivered a keynote presentation. Honourable Minister Mr Md. Shahab Uddin (MP), Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), graced the event as the Chief Guest, and Mr Stefan Liller, UNDP Resident Representative Bangladesh, as a Special Guest. Dr Kazi Khalikuzzaman Ahmed, Economist and Climate Change Expert, Dhaka School of Economics Chairman, Chaired the consultation event. Prof. Dr Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus and Adviser at C3ER, Brac University, conducted an open discussion. Closing the event, Ms. Roufa Khanam, Assistant Director at C3ER, Brac University, expressed gratitude to the guests.
