The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) at BRAC University is at the forefront of cross-sectoral climate change and disaster management research in collaboration with BRAC. Officially established with the approval of the Syndicate and Board of Trustees, C3ER actively engages in partnerships with national and international organizations. Its research agenda prioritizes the adverse impacts of climate change on health, food security, poverty, livelihood, displacement, migration, loss and damage assessment, renewable energy, negotiation processes, technology transfer, education, and awareness. Furthermore, C3ER conducts impactful training sessions and public lectures in collaboration with various departments at BRAC University.
Protiki Jubo Sangshad, founded in 2014, emerges as a dynamic youth-led organization dedicated to addressing climate issues in Bangladesh’s vulnerable southern coastal region. Aligned with climate justice and sustainable development principles, Protiki Jubo Sangshad undertakes multifaceted initiatives, from awareness-building campaigns to empowering youth to assert their rights in the face of climate change challenges. Pioneering YouthNet for Climate Justice in 2016, this organization spearheads a nationwide youth network that implements impactful actions such as the Coastal Youth Action Hub, mobilizing a formidable force of 1,500 volunteers. With registrations under pertinent ordinances, Protiki Jubo Sangshad focuses on policy advocacy, community awareness, and capacity-building through training slot online.
The collaboration between C3ER and Protiki Jubo Sangshad is driven by a shared commitment to exchange knowledge, leverage lessons learned, and jointly develop and implement study projects and awareness programs. The collaborative objectives encompass formulating and executing innovative research projects on climate change, optimizing resource utilization, facilitating field data collection and sharing, organizing training programs, and co-hosting conferences, workshops, and seminars at national and international levels. This partnership is designed to be mutually beneficial and strategically advantageous, contributing to the collective pursuit of climate resilience and adaptation.
